I'm almost done with the globe hunt, I've hit almost all the stores I wanted to hit and a few others besides. After hunting the whole afternoon, now I don't even want to THINK about a globe, let alone unpack the gifts, I'm sooooo hunted out. In fact I'm staying out of SL tonight, which explains how I'm finding the time to blog :P
You know, usually when I log in, the first thing I do is change my Windlight preset. I love... looooooove Gogolita's preset -- all the pictures you've seen recently? The "look of the day" pictures and the ~flirt~ jewellery pictures? -- they were all taken using that preset, without a facelight. I never had pictures turn out so gorgeous before! They're so gorgeous I can hardly stop looking at myself!
Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, changing the Windlight preset. I change it, then I clear all my notices and stuff so that I don't have that blue box cluttering up the top right corner of my screen. I don't mind the inventory box or IM box, because those go transparent when not active, but that solid blue box... ohhhhhh it is an obstruction!
So I accept notecards, landmarks, whatever, and then I have those cluttering up my screen instead. Bleargh. Usually the notecards take awhile to load, and I don't want to close LMs coz I'm afraid I'll forget that I want to go to those places later, so I just minimise them to the bottom of the screen.
The next thing I do depends on whether I logged into SL with any agenda. If I have no concrete plans, I'll open up my friends list and see who's online, and drop one or two people an IM. It was Bon who gave me this idea, in fact. He once wrote on his blog (I can't find that post now) that he appreciated it when friends sent IMs and showed concern after he blogged that he was feeling a bit down. I thought, why don't we do that more often? Why can't we IM even if there isn't any particular reason for contacting the person?
Many have said that they're shy to send the first IM, for fear of disturbing busy people... it wasn't hard to figure out that if my friends are afraid to IM me, and I'm afraid to IM them, we're never going to talk! lol. So I've started to drop IMs on one or two of them each day, if I see them online, just to keep in touch. There are still some people whom I find intimidating and don't dare to IM (ArminasX, for example), especially because I wouldn't know what to say if I did IM them... but, err... slowly goes it, I guess :P
And now that I've answered Laleeta's meme -- phew, finally! lol -- here's the look of the day (because people tell me that blogs need pictures)...

Hello :) Nice post, I love the casual style. Hope you feel free to IM me any time... I love hearing from you and always enjoy our conversation. Lately three or four friends in particular have humoured me with hours of conversation on IM while we go about doing whatever it is we are doing. I'm just as enthralled by the people and conversation in SL as I am the projects and builds. And for the record... ArminasX isn't at all scary - sometimes he is busy but he just says busy... and catch up later - and then generally does.
Um, it's not that he's scary, it's just that I don't know what to say to him... and he's a busy content creator and all... okay, he's scary :P
I am shocked that you find me intimidating! I must spend more time with you, because I am sure you will find me one of the most easy-going people around.
The wonderful thing is precisely the situation you mention: you don't know what to say. An exchange then is an exploration of the possible, as both parties likely discover something new. Try it.
And I am going to IM you the next time I catch you online!
*grins* I meant scary in the not scary at all but busy way. He is busy but he's also very delightful at will generally stop to at least wave in your generic direction before going back to his stuff.
I did this Meme and it made me realise I don't really have a SL routine. :)
@ArminasX - It's a matter of perception, and because I don't know you well enough, I can only rely on feelings or half-baked pre-conceived ideas -- oooh I feel a new blog post coming up!! lol
@Moggs - I think so far nobody has noticed that changing clothes is not part of my routine... *giggles* I guess not everyone will have a routine, but most would because we tend to be creatures of habit. Just that most of us tend to do the same things, which also tend to sound rather boring when written down in words :P
