Pixel Mode is having a 50L$ sale this weekend on all shoes and clothing. What you see in this picture is but a fraction of my booty! Omg look at those textures... *drools* ... and for 50L$ a piece, they're an absolute STEAL.
 
The sale lasts only through this weekend, ending Sunday at noon (EST). Go go go! You know you want to! *grins*

Peter and I have been meaning to go shoe shopping for ages. It was supposed to be a Christmas present, but then my ISP started giving me problems and I could not get inworld...

During that time he was a great help -- well, many friends tried to help in various ways, but it was Peter whom I trusted to control my computer remotely as he helped me to check the router and other network configuration settings. It's a bit strange to see your mouse cursor moving over your screen all by itself, but he would type into the Gtalk window and appraise me of what he was doing every step of the way. "You can close the connection at any time," he assured me.

Unfortunately even after tweaking settings and stuff, my ISP still locks me out of SL; Tiyuk found a Malaysian webhosting company that uses a different ISP, and got an account with them, routing my connection through them so that I can access SL. It worked, so that's what I'm doing now. This costs $200 per month (in my currency)... *sigh*. But is better than nothing.

So after that I could get into SL again, and shoe shopping with Peter went back on the agenda, but then our schedules either didn't match or either of us was busy with other things and other people... *grins*

Finally today we got our act together, and first went to see these shoes; very well-made, and I think strappy shoes are so sexy... only I was a bit disappointed that the heel colour doesn't match the rest of the shoe.

But I also wanted to check out these shoes, so we went over, and I fell in love with the demo. You can change the colours of the individual parts of the shoe, so it's highly customisable, and there are 11 colours to choose from. Win!

As a result, I have new shoes:

A friend gave me the most amazing gift today. I was just saying how much I wanted the Aoharu ribbon high heel fatpack...
 
 

 
 
All of a sudden, BOOM! L$ landed in my account, and there my friend was, grinning at me. I was like, o.O
 
It's one of the kindest and most generous things anybody has ever done for me in SL. It totally made my day <3
 
I'm not used to people giving me things for the sake of giving... in either world. It's a rare occurrence indeed. I have parents who don't believe in spoiling their kids, so I learnt early on that the only person who's going to spoil me will have to be myself.
 
Oh, it's not as sad as it sounds ;)  My parents believe in tough love and making us take responsibility for ourselves. I remember buying my first (film) camera at the age of... I think it was 14? I paid half and my dad paid half. I was sooooo proud of myself :D
 
I sometimes think it would be nice to be spoiled by someone but not having a significant other greatly reduces the probability of that occurring *grins*  Plus, I'm not the kind of person who asks for things anyway. But I have wonderful friends who care for me and show their care in the most amazing ways <3

I was thrilled to find out today that shoe store Basevi Moda has 10 lucky chairs with letters changing every 2 mins. Awesome!! The chairs are offering the same shoe in a gazillion colours. The designer used to have two pairs of this shoe as a freebie, in apricot and rose... now apparently she's decided to give away ALL the colours for free! Whooooo!

Many clothing designers give away great clothes for free, but free shoes used to be harder to find. Now, thanks to the generosity of Baby Monkey, Baroque Shoes and Basevi Moda, I am overflowing in shoes ;)

I can't seem to find the latest Baby Monkey gifts in the mess of my inventory, but I featured some of their shoes before here. Of course, talented designer Pixieplumb Flanagan has released loads of new designs since then - go check them out!

Cheyenne recently wrote about having a bad experience with a creator/designer. I'm fortunate to have had great experiences with almost all the designers I've encountered.

I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel like designers and store owners are like 'greater beings', having skills and know-how that the rest of us don't have... and I'm a bit scared to talk to them cos they must be busy people, y'know -- like, who am I to disturb them, and why should they pay any attention to me? (I know, I know, I'm weird...)

But so far I've found that my perceptions have been totally wrong. In my freebie hunting around SL, I've bumped into a few designers and they've always been friendly, plus very kind and helpful when I needed help. Like Sachi Vixen, who gave me a dress after hearing how I got stuck, nekkid, in one of her store's changing rooms. That wasn't even the store's fault!

Recently, Pixieplumb Flanagan of Baby Monkey somehow came to hear about my woes and travails with the Total Inventory Loss. I was flabbergasted when she kindly invited me over to her store to pick out a few pairs of shoes for free!

You can't imagine what a godsend this was because, while there is a lot of good quality clothing floating around SL, free good quality shoes are hard to come by. Not that I object to paying for them... just that I don't have enough $$ to buy all the shoes I want! hehehehe.

So I asked Pixie for a pair of black pumps because, in my opinion, that's one of the mainstays of every woman's wardrobe. You just can't do without a pair of black shoes! Black is elegant and matches everything ^^

And then I fell in love with the cute bow on these shoes. Isn't the bow adorable?

After that, I thought I might need some strappy heels for when I don't want to be so formal and want my feet to look a little sexier...

By now you must be thinking, "Good grief, she had the licence to choose anything she wanted, and she chose all these safe, boring colours. Black and brown! Bleargh!" -- Not so, my darlings! For I also chose this:

Isn't the colour gorgeous? It's not exactly a practical purchase but I really love the tone, how it's kinda purplish in places when the light hits it at a certain angle. Now that's what I call a work of art :)

All these lovely shoes have done my soul good. The shoe fan in me is sooooo happy!! I'm really thankful to Pixie and appreciate all the designers who give out occasional or regular freebies... I've already spent 16,000L this week replenishing my inventory, so every little bit helps!
