I, err, broke my blog at something like 4am this morning. Phoe tried to help in Plurk, but after I'd dug through all my settings a billion times and adjusted and readjusted them, I finally gave up. Sent an email to the friend who helped me set up this thing. Title of the email: "HALP!"

Woke up in the afternoon to discover 4 missed calls on my mobile phone. "You ah! If you want to change anything can you tell me first or not? I've just spent three hours on your blog trying to figure out what went wrong!"

I felt suitably chastised... so I offered to buy her dinner for her trouble :P

And if you were wondering, yes the above was a sampling of colloquial Malaysian English... or Manglish. Which is quite close to Singaporean English... which Penn finds fascinating. Hence I present to you "Why U So Like Dat?", a rap song by the Kopi Kat Klan: (no it has nothing to do with SL lol)

I logged into SL, then got so distracted catching up on Plurks, I gave up and logged out of SL lol.

I'm looking for a new webhost. Any and all suggestions welcome! I need something that will allow 3 add-on domains and supply at least 3 MySQL databases. Budget: Not more than US$90/yr. *grumbles about unfavourable foreign exchange rates... this is the one time I wish I lived in the USA*

My current hosting is borked. I'm hosting with a friend's outfit and he's taking his own sweet time fixing my account because he gives priority to his clients. I offered to PAY him and become a client (my financial circumstances have changed and I can afford it now) but he doesn't seem all that keen to do anything about it. "I'll look at it tonight", "I'm going out right now but I'll check it later," etc. etc. etc. I am FED-UP!!! Three months of borked-ness with comments not working on one blog and being unable to post to the other, it's ridiculous! Especially when he says it was a Trojan virus that caused the problem! *goes off into a rant about his own server's lousy security and blah blah blah*

I have everything backed up, so I just need to get a new host, install the blog software/CMS, set up the MySQL databases, import archives, and tinker with the templates. *groans at the thought of all the work involved*  Fortunately another friend has offered to help out with all the technical aspects, so I know I won't accidentally kill all my data or something like that XD

I am getting a new graphics card today after mine went into convulsions yesterday. Crashed every 5 minutes and the last straw, caused my PC to do a spontaneous reboot while I was in the midst of blogging.

This machine is bleeding me of money. Bleargh.

On a happier note, thank God it's Friday - and I'm soooo glad for this new job, otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford to fix the damn machine. lol

EDIT: Aureis says somebody changed our land title from "Quaintly's Place" to "I am a skank, I suck hard". What the hell? I have no enemies that I can think of (too busy shopping to make enemies) and only someone in the rental group could have changed the land title, right? *goes off to complain to landlord*

I am having major issues with my graphics card. It keeps crashing, it resets, then SL refuses to run because it claims the card driver is not installed. After the last crash I had weird lines all over my screen, so I restarted the PC, and then my screen resolution poofed to some ridiculously low number, plus I got a message that the ATI driver was either not installed or not working properly.

I'm at a loss here :(

I've already installed all the motherboard drivers and the ATI driver and any other driver that should be installed. Something must be wrong with the configuration somewhere but I'm damned if I can find out what.

I can run without the ATI card, the motherboard has a built-in graphics thingy of its own. Can do SL as well although it'd be much laggier than with the ATI card. *waaaah* I hate technology sometimes :'(

(Doesn't help that my Internet connection is being a bitch, too. Bah!)

New hard disk has been installed and my data safely ported over.

I reinstalled SL and tried to run it. It said it needed me to update my graphics driver.

I downloaded the graphics driver and tried to install it. It said I needed to install the .NET framework.

I downloaded the .NET thingy and installed it. And then installed the graphics driver. And logged into SL.

And it was SLOW AS A SNAIL.

My avi was moving around jerkily, swimming in a pile of lag. She has not moved like that ever since I got this (old) new graphics card installed a month ago.

I changed my graphics preferences to the way they used to be, turned off sound, turned off voice, turned off media streaming, etc. ... nothing changed.

Gave up and went to bed. At 5am.

Woke up at 6:30am for work.

Am now a zombie.

10:41am and I'm feeling exhausted already. How can this be? I slept at 9pm last night!! o.O

Teaching apparently takes lots more energy than I ever thought it would lol

Anyway... yea I got the new HD but didn't manage to get it installed because I crashed into bed so early. The housemate said he'll do it for me after work today, and I've just realised that I'm going to have to reinstall EVERYTHING (Firefox, SL, Irfanview, etc.) and customise them all over again. Man, what a pain. *groans*

Well, if replacing the HD does the trick, I guess that would be a small price to pay.

Meanwhile I've finally joined Plurk (Twitter is so last year) and am stalking the SL forums. Have to get my SL fix somehow :P

I'm now worrying over my PC because if I replace the hard disk, and the problems persist, that means it's the motherboard... if it's the motherboard, I'll need to get a whole new CPU, coz they don't make this kind of motherboard anymore (this PC dates back to 2005). I don't have the budget for a new CPU at the moment, probably won't till end of Aug at the earliest, but more likely end of Sept. At this point I'm more worried about paying my rent than anything else. I can't seem to transfer funds to Aureis via the Ajaxlife viewer...

*sigh*

What am I going to do??? *frets*

Anyway the new HD should be in by Tues so we'll see how that goes. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!
