Commenting on my pirate picture, Ari said I needed fattening up before he would consider taking me captive as a cabin girl. *hrrmph* *stalks off in high dudgeon*
 
My av has always been slender and willowy, but for some time now I've had moments where I've wondered if she was perhaps too slim. So Ari's comment finally spurred me into action and I fiddled with her shape a little. Didn't mess with the face, only the body. I'm going to walk around in this shape for awhile and see how I feel about it... but if I stick with this one I'm going to have to readjust all my prim skirts *groans*

Looking at this picture, I think her legs are still too long... disproportionate... I think I'll shorten them a bit more. Next thing you know, Ari, you're going to be towering above me!
 
Also: I need maroon shoes. I could only find red in my inventory. Yes, fashionistas, I do realise my shoes don't match whatever it is I am wearing. Please don't fug me! xD

A very very long time ago, like... err... waaaaay back in July -- which as we know is practically aeons in SL terms -- Eboni Khan gave me two belts to try because she saw me mention on Plurk that I have difficulty fitting most belts to my slender shape. She told me they were made from sculpties, so the prims could resize down very small, and that I could adjust the position of the individual prims using the script inside, which also allows for resizing.
 
I remember kindnesses. It's too easy to always complain, but when people are kind somehow that gets less attention, which is a shame, really. And I've been blessed to have met some really kind and helpful and generous designers. Sometimes I think of blogging as a way of showing my appreciation to them.

So when I got this dress as a review pack through the new iheartsl inworld group, and tried it on, I knew I would blog it. Quite aside from the fact that it was from House of Hucci (Eboni's store), it is fantastic and makes me feel so glam. The jewellery is all part of the dress, apart from the belt -- although the belt is from House of Hucci too. Colour-change jewellery, no less!
 
I chose to pair it with the oldie but goodie (and unfortunately no longer available) G.L.A.M. tights, tinted a deep purple to match my lipstick and provide contrast with the dress. And my new Pixel Mode boots, bought at the recent sale, which I looooooove (although the Bax Prestige boots will always be my first love! lol).

I'm wearing the dress with the skin Aimesi skin Drama Sugar Face3, also part of a review pack from the iheartsl group... a skin which goes well with my shape, much to my delight. Sometimes it's hard to find a skin that will fit your shape well, and when you put it on, you look like a caricature of your normal self (see the proof in the first picture of this post!). The only thing I would say about this skin is that it looks a bit "flat"... I took this picture with the same Windlight settings/lighting that I do most of my other pictures, and in my other posts you can see how my usual Rockberry skin looks, compared to the Aimesi skin here. It's a very sweet-looking skin, but maybe needs a bit of subtle shading to give the face some definition.
 
And yes, I know Gogo won't take me seriously coz I'm not wearing prim lashes, but that's just too bad :P

Note about Windlight: I use Gogo's Windlight settings in almost all my pictures on this blog.

I was sorting inventory when Peter asked me to come over to Bare Rose and see one of their new releases. Me being me, I got distracted while I was there, and instead of looking at what he wanted me to see, my eyes lit on a box called "Toe Shoes". Ballerina shoes? Omg! Yes!!!
 
Then I went home and discovered the box didn't just contain shoes... it held a full ballerina outfit. In two colours, no less. Oh, wow! Jackpot!
 
 

 
 
Although I've never taken ballet classes, I've always thought ballerinas so lovely and graceful -- yes, I know a lot of blood, sweat and tears are shed behind the scenes, but there's just something about a ballerina that, to me, spells enchantment and beauty and all that. I can't explain it. (Have I ever mentioned that I'm an incurable romantic?)
 
Anyway, once I'd tried the outfit on, I simply HAD to take pictures. Had to, I tell you! I couldn't help myself! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

When I went to the store, Bax Coen herself was there, greeting customers as they came in. Seeing as the boss lady was around, I took the opportunity to ask her directly about a demo (sometimes I have a one-track mind, yes I know it can be annoying!). She said, "No demo yet, but I can guarantee they will fit you," and when I bought the boots, she offered to help me fit them personally! The region was restarting so she TP'd me elsewhere, but when I put the boots on, they fit perfectly from the get-go so there was no need for extra fitting.
 
I was impressed to death with Bax's friendliness, kindness, and her willingness to answer questions and to help. Awesome customer service. It makes me want to buy the red version of these boots too... oops :P  And she said she is working on a pair in brown! *dies*

With all the building that I've been doing lately, I haven't bothered to dress up much. When I'm building I just want to put on something casual that's no fuss and no frills, which I feel I can easily move around in. I want my hair out of the way, and because I have to test poses and stuff I don't want a prim skirt blocking the view of my legs or poking out in weird directions when I try to sit down.
 
I realised that I have a "building outfit" when I found myself putting on the same ensemble each time I went to build. Poor Karl, I once wore this for 3 days straight. He never said anything, but when I wore a dress on the fourth day his first words were: "Hot dress." *giggles helplessly*

I've never thought much about my eyes. They're just, well, eyes. Two tiny dots in one's face. All I cared about was the colour, and early on, I settled on Alady's bluegray eyes. For some reason, I just liked the colour a lot... so I wore those for a very long time. I don't usually change my eyes, just like I don't usually change my skin, and I never change my shape. These are the three most constant things about my avi.
 
 

 
 
Then one day I wanted to save everything on my avatar as a separate outfit, so that if I ever shape-shift into a tiny or something, I could easily become Quaintly once again. That's when I discovered that the eyes were no-copy (grrr). So I dug around in inventory, found Aphrodite Creations' blue eyes (a previous group gift) and started wearing those.
 
Y'see, I've never bought any eyes because I have loads of freebie or dollarbie eyes, or eyes that I've received from designers as group gifts. Like I said, eyes aren't high priority to me, so it was like, "Oh look! Eyes!" and then they'd get shoved into the "Eyes" folder of my inventory, never to see the light of day again :P
 
 

 
 
But earlier this week, I got notice that Miriel Enfield is about to close her store, and remembered that London had said that Miriel eyes are the best ever. I thought, oh dear, I'd better go over and see what I've been missing, and grab those eyes before they're gone for good. If they're the best... well... I did not want to go around mourning the fact that I'd never gotten my grubby little hands on the best eyes in SL!
 
I tried on eyes after eyes after eyes and finally settled on the Pacific (standard size). I have to admit that I can see a difference, but who -- apart from Karl, perhaps -- is ever going to look at my eyes that closely? Even I don't look at my eyes that closely! (Usually I'm just looking at the back of my head...)
 
 

 
 
Oh and because I felt so pressured by all the SL fashionistas out there, I actually FITTED PRIM LASHES to take these close-up photos. Kill me now. Luckily I didn't actually have to go out and buy any... I'm a packrat and have kept every single dollarbie / freebie / group gift lash I've ever gotten since the very beginning of my SL. These are from Pixel Mode (hey, I was surprised, too!). They weren't too bad to fit... but I stared at them so much, they started to look like spiders to me. So be gentle if they don't fit quite properly *grins*
